Lori Jack and I have been thinking of writing to you for a long time now. We wanted you to know how great Nala is doing, and she is such a smart puppy. She went fishing with us at Lake of the Woods all summer long, and we usually flew up there, so Nala has a lot of air miles, and boat miles in her young life. Jack took her to a trainer in North Dakota for the whole month of October. He says Nala is doing a great job hunting for those pheasants in North Dakota for him. He is just amazed at how well she works and uses her nose. We are very happy with her, and want to thank you for letting us have her as part of our family. Thanks Jack & Joyce Likens Walker, MN
Hi Lori, Just wondering how you guys are doin'. Here's a pic from last week in Ortonville, Mn, of Jake and Daisy watching the divers work the river. She is incredible. Don't know how any dog could be any better. She's picked up over 200 so far this year and we will hunt through the end of Dec. and also have a trip planned for Nebraska to hunt the Missouri river. Just wanted to express my appreciation to you for providing such quality pups/dogs. Maybe in another year we will be ready for another one! Have a great Thanksgiving and say hi to Tom. Rick Jirik
Lori I thought I would pass on a picture of Greta that we got over the weekend. It doesn't look like she's going to be much of a duck hunter :) She is adjusting nicely and has been introduced to the nighbors dogs as well. She is showing more and more personality everyday and we have found that she is quite the snuggler when it comes time for her naps. Enjoy! Brian Schwab
You guys should sure be proud! You Produce the most beautiful pups I have ever seen! Haley is the smartest, sweetest most beautiful and hardest hunting dog (1yr) I ever owned.. Couldn't find enough words to say all I can say is she filled me with so much joy on her first official pheasant hunt yesterday! We totally love her to pieces.. Here are some pix of the hunt. Talk soon.. Chilly and Dody Bergan
Tom and Lori,
Ok, so today was the first planted bird hunt for Duke. 40 acres, 20 birds, sorghum and switch grass, 3 1/2 hours, just Phil and myself. Worked slow and Duke quartered like a Champ. He worked hard to the end. 18 flushes 16 retrieves we missed 2. Duke was not impressed with our marksmanship. Let's see now November 9th Duke will be 6 months old...you folks created something special. Please pat yourselves on the back. Have I mentioned how thankful we are?
Smile we are.
Bill and Phil
Tom And Lori, I want all those out there who are thinking of obtaning a British lab from your kennels has made a wise choice indeed! At 13 weeks of age Maggie Or Mags as I like to call her,was allready retrieving live ducks out of water! On Oct.15th she turned 5 months old and I had her out in the"old duck slew" She was to little to see over the blind and I dropped a "big goose" out in the water with a loud kawop as it hit! I took my eye off of it as more geese were in the air thinking it was dead. About two minutes had gone by and I looked back where it had fallen and it was gone! I quickly scanned the water and saw that it had put it's head down and was heading clear across the slew to the other side! I told my girlfriend Joyce we better pushpole after it before it gets to the bullrushes or we will never find it. We made it about half way across and the goose had allready burrowed it's way into the reeds. We weren't sure exactly where it went in but,I didn't want to lose that bird!! I slung my shotgun over my shoulder and dawning my chest waders hopped out of the boat with maggie. I said, "dead bird Mags" hunt him up! It was so thick in there it was like looking for a needle in a haystack! Mags was crawling under and over everything and I went right up to my crotch in muck and it took about five minutes just to get my legs free! After 20 minutes of looking I was all in! Joyce said, to try looking to the right more. I trudged with mags to the point of giving up! Just then, Maggie growled and I honestly thought she was tangling with a coon! I knew that could be real bad news for any dog, yet alone a pup! Just then, Maggie came flying out of the bullrushes backwards into the water looking back at the shoreline! I rushed foreward thinking I'm going to encounter a coon and out came the goose headed back to the side we had just pushed poled from! I shouldered my gun and dispatched the goose. Mags was standing beside me and i said, dead bird mags, fetch it up! ! She pranced with her feet up and down looked out at the goose and back at me as if to say, I don't know if I want to tangle with that "Big" thing! I said, maggie I can't get it fetch it up! With all the courage a little dog could muster, she dove in! She tried to grab the goose but it was to big! Finally, she grabbed by one wing and turned to bring it back. It was like watching a man swimming down the river with a rope trying to pull a barge! She made it about 10 yards and let go of the goose and I actually thought she was going to come back with out it! Maggie turned and swam around the goose and saw that long neck in the water and grabbed it just behind the head. She brought it right to hand. I took it from her and emediately praised her up one side and down the other! That's what dad wants! What a good girl! It was like the light bulb went on in her head! After that, she was all business! I had no doubt in my mind that she would retrieve anything that I dropped after that! The following weekend we went back up and three geese, one mallard, and one ringbill were harvested and Maggie brought back everyone! Since then Maggie has been introduced to pheasants. For such a young dog, she hunts hard! Five birds were harvested and some of those were cripples due to my shooting skills. Mag's found and brought to hand every one! Thankyou! Thankyou! Thankyou! for introducing me to such a wonderful breed! Signed. "A Very Happy Customer!" Greg Thomas Montgomery Mn. P.S. That goose weighed 18 pounds!
