The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has officially issued GSR 47(E) for the 6 GHz band (5925–6425 MHz).
Per this notification, the 6 GHz band has been delicensed for low-power indoor wireless use, allowing faster and more reliable wireless connectivity.
Devices operating in this band must obtain ETA-SD (Equipment Type Approval – Self Declaration) to comply with WPC regulations.
This is an important step towards enabling next-generation wireless technologies like Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7, offering higher speeds, lower latency, and better user experience.
Technical Specifications for 5925–6425 MHz Band

Operational Restrictions
Use on oil platforms is prohibited
Indoor use is not allowed in moving vehicles, boats, or aircraft (below 10,000 ft)
Communication with and control of drones or unmanned aerial systems is prohibited
Devices operating in the 5925–6425 MHz band must use a contention-based protocol to ensure fair and efficient sharing of spectrum
Note: Current the WPC portal is not yet updated with these changes. Once the update is completed, applications for the 5925–6425 MHz band can be submitted.
